Up Next: National ID Card with Biometrics and GPS

So, every American will be forced to have a national ID card, each with biometrics data and possibly eventually a GPS chip. So much for liberty!

This is wrong on so many levels. First the invasion of privacy, is most startling as the GPS chip will give your whereabouts. The biometrics data is also an invasion of privacy as your employer and governments will have access to your identity and medical information.

This is a continuation of the Real ID Act of 2005 which was wrongly inacted. This should fail on its merits of the invasion of privacy.

State Rep to DelDOT: Basketball Hoops Grandfathered

Apparently the controversy over basketball hoops has been going for a while before the State wasted taxpayer funds on removing the poles last Friday.  State Rep. Bryon Short (D-7), responded via letter to former DelDOT Secretary stating the basketball hoops were intended to be grandfathered since they were installed prior to the passage of HB234 back in the 139th General Assembly.

Short also states that the kids, not the poles, are the reason for the traffic flow issues.  And that this issue is not the purview of the DelDOT

Let's hope there is an investigation into this issue and the lying of the State Trooper to the homeowner on the stealing of the homeowner's private property.  Not to to mention the threats of arrest because they were questioning this.

Is this still America?

Here is a copy of Rep. Bryon Short's letter to Wicks:

DE House GOP draft Delaware Health Care Freedom Act

Bill Seeks to Give Delawareans More Freedom Over Healthcare Choices

Announcement made on anniversary of the enactment of  'Obamacare'

For Immediate Release: March 23, 2011

For More Information: Joe Fulgham (302) 744-4184

On the one-year anniversary of the enactment of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), State Rep. Deborah Hudson (R-Fairthorne) has unveiled a bill intended to preserve the right of Delawareans to make their own healthcare decisions.

The Delaware Health Freedom Act specifies that Delawareans are free to choose, or decline to choose, all healthcare services, without penalty or threat of penalty.

"The federal government does not have the legal authority to mandate that citizens purchase healthcare coverage, yet that.s exactly what it.s done," Rep. Hudson said.

The Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution provides that powers not granted to the federal government, nor prohibited to the states, are reserved to the states and individual citizens.

"Obamacare is the worst kind of legislation,"Rep. Hudson said. "It not only tries to extend the power of the federal government into the most basic and private decisions of our families, it does so through coercive actions that attempt to bully people into submission."

Supporters of the bill say it has two core objectives: to preserve Delawareans. freedom of choice in matters of healthcare; and defend Delaware.s right to govern its own citizens.

"Under this bill, our residents would have free will to join the government plan, continue with their private healthcare coverage, or pay for their healthcare out of their own pocket . without the threat of being intimidated into a decision by the federal government," Rep. Hudson said.

Modeled after legislation successfully enacted in Arizona, the Delaware Health Freedom Act would¡¦

. provide standing to a state participating in current litigation against the federal mandate to force citizens to buy healthcare coverage;

. allow a state to launch additional 10th-Amendment-based litigation if the current lawsuits fail; and

. empower a state attorney general to litigate on behalf of individuals harmed by the mandate once it goes into effect in 2014.

Rep. Hudson said the legislation is identical to House Bill 353, which died in the House Administration Committee last year. The committee is composed solely of House leaders and was defeated along a party-line vote of 3-to-2. Speaker of the House Bob Gilligan (D-Sherwood Park), State House Majority Leader Pete Schwartzkopf (D-Rehoboth Beach) and State House Majority Whip Valerie Longhurst (D-Bear) all voted against allowing the bill to move to the floor for open debate.

"A lot has happened since then,"Rep. Hudson said.

Since the start of 2010, 43 states have either introduced or announced bills similar to the Delaware Health Freedom Act. According to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) . which has been a leader in the fight against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act . six states (Virginia, Idaho, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, and Missouri) have enacted such legislation, and two states (Arizona and Oklahoma) have adopted it as part of their state constitutions.

Additionally, 26 states are suing the federal government over the issue of unconstitutional mandates and the U.S. House of Representatives voted in January to repeal Obamacare.

ALEC Health and Human Services Task Force Director Christie Herrera said Obamacare is a flawed piece of legislation, noting that although the law is nearly three years away from being fully implemented, the federal government has already granted over 700 waivers.

"In refusing to let this bill be debated by the full House, Rep. Schwartzkopf said he didn't think Delaware needed to get involved because other states were taking action and we could ride their coattails," Rep. Hudson said. "That thinking is not only incredibly shortsighted, it also violates our oath as state representatives to .respect the rights of future generations. and .uphold and defend the constitutions. of our country and state."

State House Minority Whip Gerald Hocker (R-Ocean View) points out there is a profound economic aspect to Obamacare that could have grave implications for the state and all Delaware taxpayers.

Delaware will spend approximately $600 million in the upcoming budget to pay for the state.s share of Medicaid . a state-federal partnership to provide healthcare to low and medium income residents. "Medicaid expenses have been one of the leading budget drivers for our state in recent years," Rep. Hocker said.

According to information supplied by Gov. Jack Markell.s office, Medicaid expenses have increased by 120-percent over the last 10 years and are expected to jump by more than $50 million in the budget that takes effect July 1st.

"To comply with the new regulations, 33 states will see their Medicaid rolls jump by 20 to 30 percent and some states will see their Medicaid rolls jump by 50 percent or more,¡± said ALEC.s Christie Herrera. ¡°And because of the .maintenance of effort. requirement, which prevents states from cutting Medicaid eligibility, states will be forced to either cut funding in other areas, reduce Medicaid benefits for existing enrollees, and/or raise taxes."

Rep. Hocker said most people don.t yet realize the financial impact Obamacare is going to have on their families, both in higher taxes and mandated medical coverage. "It won.t be fully phased-in until 2014 and many of the regulations for how it.ll be implemented are still being written," he said. "According to published figures, if this is left unchecked, it.ll result in more than $600 billion in new or increased taxes within the next 10 years. That doesn.t even take into account the higher cost of goods and services because of the healthcare expenses businesses will be forced to pass along to their customers. We need to protect our citizens by enacting the Delaware Healthcare Freedom Act."

Rep. Hudson said killing her bill in committee last year was an act of cowardice that should not be repeated.
"This bill should be debated on the floor and voted up or down on its merits. What trumped-up excuse is there for not allowing an open debate on this issue? What case could anyone make for opposing an effort to give our citizens the freedom to make their own healthcare choices? If the opponents to this bill have valid arguments, they should not be ducking a discussion by keeping this bill bottled-up in committee. Their obligation to the people they are supposed to be representing should outweigh their loyalty to their party leader on Pennsylvania Ave."

Baby Joseph: When Left to Die, America Comes to the Rescue

No one really knows how long Baby Joseph Maraachli will live.  However, when the Canadian health care officials refused to peform a tracheotomy to allow Baby Joseph to breathe in peace, America came to the rescue.  Today it was reported that Baby Joseph received that tracheotomy.

The story of Baby Joseph unfortunately hits on two poltiical fronts.  The first is state-sponsored euthansia vis a vis Canada's "health care" system, and the other does America really want this?

Canada's decision to not perform the tracheotomy in the first is nothing less than state-sponsored euthanasia.  What right does Canada have to determine who gets a surgery or not?  Who gave them the authority to make that decision.  Unfortunately, Canada's health care system allows its health care administrators to play God.

If the case of Baby Joseph, and how the American health care system is not testament to how it should  be, then no one deserves it.  For those that want to transform America's health care system to rival Canada or Britain are the same who wan to play God in similar cases to Baby Joseph.  Human life deserves greater respect than to be at the hands of some ego-maniacal bureaucrat with a rubber stamp of rejection on every procedure just to save a buck.

America prays for you Baby Joseph that you life out the rest of your life in dignity.

Harvard Prof: Obama Leading Us Back to Carter's 1970s

Not what you might expect coming out of New England, but Harvard professor Niall Ferguson said that President Obama is leading the nation back to former President Carter's 1970s.  That period in the late 1970S was riddled with high inflation, stagnant high unemployment and high energy costs.

Niall Ferguson points out that that ""Best case, we're about to rerun the 1970s, only with Barack Obama instead of Jimmy Carter in the White House."

The premise behind Ferguson's claims stem from the rampant printing of money, and the rise of China as the world's dominant manufacturing power.  He questions the ability of the dollar to remain as the world's reserve currency.  As the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing ends in June 2011, there is a big unknown as to what the interest rates will be, and guess they will skyrocket up to counter-act the rise in wholesale prices.

The rise of oil prices, part of it attributed to turmoil in the Middle East, but the other due to the low valuation of the dollar draws concern.  The high price of oil creates a huge uncertainty amongst American families and addes to the hidden cost of goods shipped around the globe.  Thus consumers are getting pinched twice - at the pump and at the store register.

This does not bode well for consumer confidence, of which could be controlled if the Federal Reserve stopped overprinting money, and the U.S. Congress controlled fiscal spending.  The latter is a must, but highly doubtful with a Democratically-controlled Senate and President Obama in the White House.  They are armed to reject whatever the Republican-controlled House proposes, and have already have.  Look at what they have done with the passage of funding cuts of Planned Parenthood and NPR.  They have rejected them as unjust and barbaric.

Until the political elite gets a grip on reality that the U.S. economy is on the verge of fiscal Armageddon, a return of Carter's 1970s is looking more likely a reality every day.  With the passage of every day and inaction by both chambers of Congress to use a hatchet to the fiscal budget and deficit, the U.S. careens down a road of no return where it just might be too late to save the republic.  Let's hope that is a wrong assessment, and that the political elite wake up to reality.

Rand Paul Delivers

Freshman Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) proposed a deficit-busting budget that eliminates the deficit within five years.

Rand Paul's proposal would eliminate $4 Trillion from the deficit. The plan would cut non-defense discretionary spending down to 2008 levels. It would cut defense spending by six percent. It would eliminate four expensive and unconstitutional departments - the Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy and Housing and Urban Development.

Here Rand Paul along with Senate colleagues Jim Demint (R-SC) and Michael Lee (R-UT):

Here is Rand Paul on FoxBusiness with Judge Andrew Napolitano talking about the deficit-busting budget.

Rand Paul and his tea party caucus have done more in two months than most Senators have done in two or terms.  See the Senate bill here

House Votes to Pull NPR Funding

2011 is not NPR's year.  After the heavily left-wing biased public radio outfit embarrassed itself causing the firings of two senior executives, the U.S. House voted 228-192 to strip federal taxpayer funding of NPR.  Clearly this is a victory for the American taxpayer.

Geither Stuns Markets with Possible U.S. Backing of World Currency

U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner stunned the world markets today with a bombshell that the U.S. might back a world currency.  With this bombshell by Geithner the U.S. dollar plunged against the euro, yen and sterling as Geithner seemed somewhat supportive of China's plan to have a world currency backed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Once Geithner realized the huge gaffe he made, he backpedalled by stating that the U.S. dollar would be the "world's dominant reserve currency ... for a long period of time".  Once he realized how severe his gaffe was on the global markets, he further expanded - "I don't believe that there is a need for a global currency. The reason the dollar is strong right now is because investors consider the United States the strongest economy in the world with the most stable political system in the world."

At least now we know what Geithner really thinks about the U.S. dollar, and why he Geithner has been so passive in keeping the dollar strong.  But what Geithner is doing is keeping China at ease, given they buy so much of our sovereign debt.

Geithner should really be looking for ways to make the dollar strong, rather than looking for the easy way out of exploring a possible world reserve currency not based on the U.S. dollar.  Geithner also needs to exert some fortitude on reigning in the spending at the U.S. Treasury.  Maybe this expectation is too high for an admitted tax cheat.

The Dust Police Are Coming...

As if America's farmers and businesses don't have enough regulations, the EPA is proposing regulations against farm dust. Farm dust is causing by driving on a dirt road, or by livestock on farm.

All the more reason to defund the EPA in its entirety. But thanks to freshman Congresswoman Kristi Noem (R-SD) who filed an amendment to defund the EPA's dust protection initiative.

GAO Government Audit Highlights Widespread Government Waste

When the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released its independent performance audit of the federal government yesterday, jaws dropped nationwide.  For the first time in a long time if not our nation's history, government leaders and the public see now how poorly the federal government is managed.  Now, the real work can begin to reform the federal government and reduce overlapping costs.

On the surface, the report highlight numerous overlaps of multiple departments and agencies performing the same function.  Of course, this makes no financial sense, and this only adds to a bloated government and a tremendous waste of taxpayer money.

The major opportunities outlined in the report hinge on comprehensive reforms in the following areas:
  • Identifying and addressing government wide waste of duplication of enterprise architecture, inter-agency contracting, and tax expenditures across the entire federal government system.
  • Lowering drug costs (FDA) and eliminating duplicate contracting of drug procurement across multiple agencies (Defense; Veterans Affairs; and Health/Human Services).
  • Modernization of government electronic health records and integration of public health record systems nationwide.
  • Addressing inconsistent and wasteful duplication of multi-agency efforts for agriculture monitoring.
  • Modernization and consolidation of Defense business, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems.
  • Implementation of comprehensive department wide procurement program within the Defense department on defense programs to eliminate duplication and waste within the procurement process.
  • Consolidation of multi-agency efforts to repel biological or chemical weapon threats; securing nations' borders; and transportation threat monitoring.  Leverage consolidation to address inefficiencies and reduce wasteful spending.
  • Reduction of overlap of administration structures and costs of domestic food assistance; homelessness and transportation-disadvantages persons.
  • Consolidation of training and education programs within the federal government, that currently are spread out across multiple agencies, departments and programs.
  • Conduction and reduction of overlap of the teacher quality program, that currently is spread out by ten agencies and encompassed in 82 federal programs.
  • Addressing fragmentation of financial literacy efforts that currently requires twenty agencies to coordinate.
One major area of the report highlight's the government's inability to consolidate the health information networks and drug costs.  And yet the President and Democrats in Congress feel that Obamacare would help contain costs.  Really?
And yes, conservatives we need to address the inefficiencies within the Department of Defense. Thanks to the report, we can now address the redundant procurement and technology systems.

Now is the time for the department heads (Secretary of Defense, HHS, etc.), and managers of the federal government to think like Corporate America to reduce wasteful spending within the federal government.  Start thinking that the funding for every department, agency and job within the federal government is your money.  Which it is.  And remember, it's a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

The GAO gave you the cheat sheet on what needs to get fixed, so get to work.  Prove to the American taxpayer that you really are frugal with our money.  The next election is in less than two years, and be reminded we are paying attention.  We are armed with information and will pull the lever to whomever will take a hatchet to the federal government to make it work, and cost-effective.

Obama's Deficit Problem

Nobody likes being lied to, but when President Obama speaks on the federal deficit by blaming his predecessor, you better know the facts.  Clearly, Obama either is that clueless or he is in serial denial.  But the facts report a different picture.

Yesterday Obama, while talking about the deficit stated:
Making these necessary investments would be hard at any time. But it’s that much harder at a time when resources are scarce. After living through a decade of deficits and a historic recession that made them worse, we can’t afford to kick the can down the road any longer. So the budget debate that we’re having is going to be critical here in Washington. And so far, most of it’s been focused almost entirely on how much of annual domestic spending — what in the parlance we all domestic discretionary spending — that we should cut. There’s no doubt that cuts in discretionary spending have to be a part of the answer for deficit reduction.

Based on this statement, it is obviously clear that Obama fails to see what affect this programs are having on the federal deficit.  The federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reports that Obama is directly responsible for the tripling deficit since he assumed office in January 2009.  And pictures don't lie.
