The Political Motivation behind CREW’s Complaint against Christine O’Donnell

Do not let the AP or Wilmington News Journal’s reports that the investigation into Christine O’Donnell use of campaign funds is about her misuse of those funds. The timing of the complaint by the Citizens for Responsibility of Ethics in Washington (CREW) was politically motivated and occurred days after her historic Republican primary upset of Congressman Michael Castle. Her September 14th victory rocked the Delaware political system, in which the political elite fired back.

On September 20th, CREW filed a complaint that Christine O’Donnell allegedly misused campaign funds for personal use. It does not take being a rocket scientist to know that timing of complaint was directly attributed to the fact that Christine O’Donnell’s victory upset the status quo, where a select few controlled the entire political system here in Delaware. Aside from Congressman Mike Castle who was the party endorsed candidate, ties to Vice President Joe Biden can also be tracked.

Melanie Sloan, CREW’s Executive Director a long-time Democratic operative and former Nominations Counsel for Joe Biden's Senate Judiciary Committee. With ties that close to Vice President Joe Biden, she is doing the heavy lifting to ensure Democrats win in Delaware forever. She is also keeping the road clear for Joe Biden’s son, Beau should he ever decide to run for federal office. Earlier this year, Beau shocked the Delaware electorate when he decided against running for U.S. Senate, the seat previously held by his father. In November 2010, Sloan announced she was leaving CREW for a job at a law firm.

Who else is behind CREW? Let’s find out…

Norm Eisen, a co-founder of CREW, went to law school with President Barack Obama and was the deputy counsel for Obama’s transition team.
• CREW President, Treasurer and co-incorporator Louis M. Mayberg is a prominent Democratic donor.
• Director John Luongo served as the 2001 technical advisor to the Democratic National Committee, and served on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood from 2001-2007.
• Former Director Naomi Seligman launched the communications program for leftist Media Matters of America.
• Initial Incorporator of CREW Mark Penn served in a key role in Bill Clinton’s 1996 Presidential Campaign, and served as the chief strategist and pollster for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential campaign.

The Money Trail behind CREW

In order to see what motivates CREW, you need to see how CREW obtains its funding. In a simple Internet search, CREW is funded by the Stephen M Silberstein Foundation and the Democracy Alliance.

The Silberstein Foundation, in addition to CREW, has donated to:

• The PBL Fund - Peter B. Lewis, a Democracy Alliance donor is the sole trustee of this foundation. Silberstein donated $396,354 in 2008.

• The Gill Foundation – Foundation President Tim Gill is a backer of the Democracy Alliance. The Gill Foundation received $150,000 in 2008 for general operating support.

Mayberg Family Charitable Foundation – CREW President Louis Mayberg is the only trustee of this foundation. This foundation received $25,000 in 2008.

Open Society Foundation – Institute President George Soros is a backer of the Democracy Alliance.

The Democracy Alliance is another principle financial backer of CREW. This group is backed by George Soros, and was founded by former Clinton Treasury official Rob Stein, Erica Payne and various donors in 2005. Those donors are the wealthy, liberal elite. According to a 2006 article by James Dellinger;

"(In April 2005) Soros gathered together an even larger group. Seventy millionaires and billionaires met in Phoenix, Arizona, to firm up the details for their fledging political financing clearinghouse. The attendees heard presentations on why all the pro-Democratic Party 527 groups on which they lavished millions of dollars failed to deliver the election to Kerry. But now they had a new strategy to make a difference.”.

But membership to the Democracy Alliance comes with a price:

“To join the Democracy Alliance, there is one requirement: You must be rich. Members, who are called “partners,” pay an initial $25,000 fee and $30,000 in yearly dues. They also must pledge to give at least $200,000 annually to groups that Democracy Alliance endorses.”
Dellinger also notes that several organizations have been approved for funding by the Democracy Alliance. They include, but are not limited to: CREW; Media Matters for America (linked to CREW, see Naomi Seligman); Emily’s List, and ACORN. Yes, the ACORN that was exposed during and after the 2008 Presidential campaign.

Some key liberal figures are also behind the Democracy Alliance:

• Chair: Taco Bell heir Rob McKay also is President of the McKay Family Foundation and a director for Mother Jones. McKay also blogs for the Huffington Post
• Vice Chair: Former Secretary of the SEIU Anna Burger. In February 2009, Burger was appointed to as a member of the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
George Soros
Norman Lear, Hollywood TV producer and creator of “All in the Family”, “The Jeffersons” and “Sanford and Son”
Rob Reiner, Hollywood actor and director. He was an actor in Norman Lear’s “All in the Family”
• The SEIU is an institutional member of the Democracy Alliance

Why the Money Trail Matters

As you can see, CREW is financed by some very committed hard leftists who have an agenda to fund progressive candidates and agendas. Stopping Christine O’Donnell via the CREW complaint (and now reported federal investigation), Democracy Alliance and the Silberstein Foundation was essential to advancing the progressive agenda in Delaware. By protecting the legacy of Joe Biden, paving the way for his son Beau; CREW would cement a permanent status quo of failed liberal, progressive agenda of stagnant economic growth, and culture of dependence.

The candidacy of Christine O’Donnell, which started in 2006, was a direct assault on the status quo and this drove the elites into a panic. That is why when she won the 2010 GOP nomination in September 2010, CREW had to throw all it had at her. They were determined to make it stick and to intentionally and publicly discredit who she was and what she stood for.

But more importantly, not only were they discrediting Christine O’Donnell; but they their complaint against the O’Donnell campaign was also against the conservative movement in Delaware. It was the conservative movement in Delaware (and also throughout the U.S.) that helped Christine secure the primary victory in September. Their rationale was that if you stop Christine, the conservative movement will also die in Delaware.

We now go back full circle to Joe Biden, Mike Castle, Beau Biden and other liberal elites in Delaware who want Christine stopped. Stopping her would mean an end to their tight control over the entire political system in Delaware, including the purse strings. We cannot exclude some key members of Delaware Republican Party, include party chair Tom Ross, whose ego was severely bruised when Christine beat party backed candidate Mike Castle. Castle despite being a Republican is no conservative, and barely had a 50% conservative rating from the American Conservative Union. A snapshot of his liberal career is found here.

Delaware Republican Party Chair, also filed a formal FEC complaint against Republican candidate Christine O'Donnell.  How is that for eating your own young?

So Delaware, now you know why this was done. This complaint is solely because of bruised egos because Christine beat Mike Castle and an intentional assault on Christine and the conservative movement in Delaware to cement permanent Democratic rule.

But it could not have been done with the on-going libelous assault by the Wilmington News Journal. And let’s not forget that the News Journal is a Gannett Corp. publication. Gannett lauded former SEIU Secretary Anna Burger as “the most influential woman in the U.S. labor movement". So when CREW filed the complaint, and since CREW is funded by the Democracy Alliance (of which Anna Burger is Vice Chair), the News Journal complies (and continues to comply) with the endless campaign of Christine bashing. And it all started with that March 20th article of which the News Journal launched the first of many assaults against Christine O’Donnell.

Liberals – you fool no one. You have been exposed.

R. Lee Ermey urges Americans to fight Socialism

R. Lee Ermey, and retired U.S. Marine drill instructor and actor in the GEICO commercial has a few words for Americans on the state of the U.S. economy and where we are headed.  In doing a promotion for Toys for Tots he said that this year was problematic due to the sluggish economy.

"We are having a big problem this year (with toy donations).  The economy really sucks.  And I hate to point figures at anybody, but the present administration probably had a lot to do with it.  And the way I see it, they are not going to quit doing it until they bring this country to its knees.   So I think we should all rise up an we should stop this administration from what they are doing   because they are destroying this country.  They are driving this country into bankruptcy so they can impose Socialism on us, and that is exactly what they are doing.  I am sick and tired of it, and know you are too..."

Census: Population Shifts May Mean Opportunity for GOP, Conservatives

The 2010 Census results are in.  And for the Democratic Party, they may be losing their grasp on New Castle County.

The results show more are moving below the canal, which is more friendly to conservative values, than that above the canal.  The results also mean that an additional two Senators (one each for Kent and Sussex) and four legislators (two each for Kent and Sussex) may be in the works.  They will be at the expense of New Castle County.  The upcoming redistricting (done every ten years) should take this into consideration.

What we can expect is few legislators representing New Castle County, and more representing Kent and Sussex.  The elections of 2012 can have dramatic impacts on the future of the State of Delaware.

Don´t Tread On Me

Lyrics:

Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail

Once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
Never begins it, never, but once engaged
Never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage

Don't tread on me

So be it

Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war
So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore

Don't tread on me

Love it or live it, she with the deadly bite
Quick is the blue tongue, forked as the lighting strike
Shining with brightness, always on surveillance
The eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance

Don't tread on me

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war
So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore

Don't tread on me

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war

Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
Once you provoke her, rattling
of her tail

So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war

So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore

Don't tread on me

John Bolton: Obama's Refusal to Address Wikileaks Threats a Danger to U.S. National Security

Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton said President Obama's failure to address the security threats against the U.S. are a great danger.  Of note:

  • U.S. Secretary of State recognized the Wikileaks intelligence dump as an attack on someone, but was more occupied with protecting the international community.
  • Press Secretary Robert Gibbs dismissed the Wikileaks intelligence dump as an attack done by one person.  He also added the White House was "not scared of one guy with one keyboard and a laptop".
That was it.  Not other response from his administration on the Wikileaks intelligence dump.

Obama's failure to address this lapse of security over intelligence data, and the intentional release should concern every American.  This administration is failing its Constitutional duties to 'provide a common defense' and ensure that its actions and national security data is not compromised.

President Obama in his inaction to address this, along with his weak foreign diplomatic scorecard has further eroded America's image globally.  Why have a State Department when no nation can trust you to protect sensitive information?  Why have a State Department when the leak of the information insulted foreign dignitaries and some of our allies?

And with his failure to stand firm against this release, is this a sign of what is to come should we need to stand firm against another Pearl Harbor or another 9/11?

Education Spending Does Not Equal Results

Once again, the U.S. was globally embarrassed in an international assessment of education results.  The renowned Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (http://www.oecd.org/) released it's latest results today.  The U.S. did not fare to well.

  • The U.S. ranked 14th in reading
  • The U.S. ranked 25th in mathematics
  • The U.S. ranked 17th in science
Clearly, despite the expenditures, U.S. students are not meeting international educational standards.  It is well known, that the U.S. does not have a spending problem in terms of providing education for its students.  But why isn't all of the money being thrown at it, working?  The Heritage Foundation studied this, and money does not equal results.

In its 2010 annual report card on education, the American Legislative Exchange Council (http://www.alec.org/) also validated that education spending does not always guarantee results.

The case is also true on a state level for the State of Delaware.  Despite spending over $13,000 per student, the standard has mediocre results:

Like Delaware, the United States has not addressed the root cause of the education problem - which is reforming the education system to meet the skill needs of the business community.  On a global scale, the U.S. is not creating an educated workforce that can compete with students in higher proficiency in mathematics, science, and even reading comprehension.  The education gap is of great concern because America is losing its competitive edge, at the expense of education unions and special interests.

If the U.S. wants to remain competitive, meaningful education reform devoid of education unions and special interests must take place at the federal and each state level.  The U.S. and each state can longer afford to allow teacher's unions to dictate the curriculum and educational testing standards.

But true education reform cannot be conducted with being a priority at home.  Unless the student has a nurturing and supporting environment, the student has no incentive to study and succeed.  Parental involvement in ensuring their child is getting the appropriate education they require is essential to developing a future employee in this global workforce.

The short-term and long-term education vitality of the U.S, and each state also is contingent on producing continual high quality workforce that can meet the ever changing needs of this global economy.  As technology and innovation become the cornerstone of the economy, competence in mathematics, science and technology must be attained.  The U.S. must re-focus its energies on technological and scientific innovation that can springboard to manufacturing on U.S. soil.  But without American innovation in all facets of science and technology, done with a competent workforce, this cannot be attained.

December 7th: A Beginning of an Experiment, and a Date Which Will Live in Infamy

When most people think of December 7th, they think of only of the two major events to happen on this date.  But for America there are two historic events that have forever changed our nation.

December 7, 1787 is a date every American must know just like July 4th and Christmas.  This date was the day America was born as a nation, when visionaries from the state of Delaware ratified the U.S. Constitution.  The brave step by these founding fathers and patriots of the American Revolution gave birth to a nation that has championed opportunity and liberty for all citizens.  No other nation in the world has been as blessed as this one, and it all started by a little state on the Eastern seaboard to kick start what we have enjoyed for 233 years.

December 7, 1941 marks the first terrorist attack on U.S. soil by a sovereign nation.  Japan's horrific attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was the catalyst that forced the U.S. into a contentious and brutal battle in World War II.  American personal casualties on that tragic day were 2,042 casualties and 1,282 wounded.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared December 7, 1941 as a "date which will live in infamy" after the Japan's unannounced provocation of an attack, despite on-going diplomatic negotiations.

As history has shown, this horrific attack catapulted the U.S. in World War II against Japan, Germany and Italy.  Germany and Italy were unrelated to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, but to stop communism

Bar Stool Economics and How Taxes Work

Yep, It Must Be Global Warming

For over a week, seven patrons of a Yorkshire, England pub have been stranded inside due to 16 foot snow drifts.  High winds, and continual snow showers have also put their cars under nine feet of snow.

Nothing is worse than being stuck inside an English pub with great pub food and beer to keep you nourished.  It could be worse, right?

Meteroligists are now blaming global warming for the unusual major snow problems in Britian.  Funny, but if you ask me its called -- winter!

DELDOT's Route 113 Bypass Land Deals Require Investigation

The Delaware Department of Transportation's decision to pay two land developers $60,000 per month not to build should be cause of concern for the Delaware taxpayer.  It does not take a rocket scientist to know that the U.S. and Delaware are still reeling from a protracted recession, of which includes the housing market.  DELDOT's decision to reward two land developers in this market are akin to bailouts doled out by the U.S. Department of Treasury to large firms suchs as General Motors, Chrysler and all of the national money-center banks.

The premise of rewarding the two land developers was brought to Delawareans' attention today.  But a News Journal article alone will not address the premise of the why the two developers are being rewarded.  And that is why Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden and State Auditor Tom Wagner must investigate.

  • Why were the two developers the only ones rewarded, of the 416 affected by the new bypass plans?
  • Is the planned bypass through Dagsboro the best alternative to problems on Route 113?
  • What authority does DELDOT have to reward $60,000/month to two developers for something not to be built? (This is different that compensating homeowners affected by a road project on fair market value due to loss of property).
The State Auditor must also investigate DELDOT Secretary Carolyn Wicks' premise that the deals were responsible to the Delaware taxpayer.  Her own comment ""We are responsible with taxpayers' money," is simply not true.  Rewarding two developers to the tune of $60,000 each per month is not good stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Further investigation needs to be done to investigate Rte 113 alternatives as they fail to address the East-West congestion.  The congestion on Rte 113 is North-South, but the East-West congestion is due to traffic coming from Rte 113 where there are shopping opportunities east to the shore points.  The Bypass alternatives will not alleviate that traffic congestion as Rtes 24, 26, etc may be landlocked and may not be condusive to expansion.

ICYMI: Unemployment Rose Again

As Americans either work or venture out to conduct holiday shopping, the business world woke up this morning to find out that the economy is far from recovered.  Unemployment surprisingly rose to 9.8% (u3), or 17% for real (u6) unemployment.

The real unemployment is more troubling as this represents the total unemployment number in America.  While reported u3 represents those on unemployment benefits, u6 (or total unemployment) represents everyone who wants a full-time job, but cannot get one.  And 17% total unemployment, is nearly one out every six Americans.

And to make matters worse according to a New York Time article, the longer one is out of work; the less of a chance they will find work.  So the bad news just got worse for many.

The only positive news of today's developments, is this may give incentive to Congressional Democrats to back extending the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for the foreseeable future.  Let's hope they see the light.

Delaware Should Join Movement for 'Don't Tread on Me' License Plates

It is only fitting that the First State to join the union, join the movement to allow drivers to put 'Don't Tread on Me' license plates on their vehicles.  Three states - Virginia, Nevada and now Texas - have announced or passed legislation to allow motorists to express their patriotic enthusiasm for the Gadsden Flag plates.  But, will Delaware?

The State of Delaware on its standard blue and gold (actually the color of buff) license plate, proudly advertises 'The First State'.   Back on December 7, 1787, the Small Wonder started the experiment our Founding Fathers envisioned and what we have enjoyed to know as the United States of America.  What Delaware started, Delaware must continue.

While some may balk at the notion of the Gadsden Flag being on display on cars throughout the State due to its symbolic use by Tea Parties across the nation. But, the Gadsden Flag is very much a part of America's storied history.  The Gadsden Flag was used by the first U.S. Marines in 1775, who along side the U.S. Navy to incercept incoming British ships carrying war supplies to the British troops in the colonies.  Named after its designer, General Christopher Gadsden of South Carolina, the flag was a symbol of America's fight against the British.  Often in writing before and during the Revolutionary War, America was depicted as snake because the snake (America) joined to fight a British dragon.

Now America, and its citizens are fighting for America's survival.  Millions of concerned Americans have held rallies and marched in our nation's capitol to demand limited government and fiscal restraint and accountability.  Nothing is more fitting for Delaware motorists than the opportunity to display the Gadsden Flag as moniker for America's independence, and why we fought for that independence.  For now, we are fighting for indepdendence from Statists who want to enslave Americans with endless social programs and exorbitant tax burdens.

Christine O'Donnell Gets Book Deal

According to Politico and Delaware Online, Delaware U.S. Senate candidate and conservative pundit Christine O'Donnell got a book deal.  The book will be released in August 2011.
